The breakfast was AMAZING. The most tasty and complete that we have ever experienced in our B&B travels.  All was great.  The courtyard is lovely and having parking in the rear of the inn was convenient.What a special treat... port served in the evening in the ballroom, which could be taken out to the balcony for a truly romantic and special view of the lovely architecture and gas lights of the homes on the street.

This hotel is amazing, and THE place to stay in Charleston. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are incredibly well furnished. The staff is lovely and very accommodating. If you want to really, truly experience the south and southern hospitality, John Rutledge is the place to be. Breakfast is great, and they have a nice little ballroom for afternoon tea and evening port.

I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, and I am not surprised that it has gotten the reviews it has gotten. Charleston is one of the best cities in the world and this is one of the best hotels in the world.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the John Rutledge House Inn. Prior to staying, my wife and I researched around town came across this hotel...need less to say, WE WILL BE BACK! From the time we walked through the door, greeted by the young man Damian, he was still training, but with the warm reception and magnificent aura he had... the rest is splendid history ! We stayed in the John Rutledge suite, right outside of the ballroom. And the evening tea was absolutely charming, and it would suffice to say, the entire staff was amazing. We will be back, hopefully for their Progressive Dinner, in December! If you are traveling to Charleston, do yourself a favor and stay at this beautiful property.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this hotel and had an excellent experience. We loved our room with its 13' ceilings, four-poster bed with wonderful mattress, fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, and the view of three church spires from our windows. The bathroom and amenities were generous, and robes were provided. We chose to breakfast in our room. The food was delicious and bountiful. Complimentary bottled water was provided, and afternoon tea complete with 3 kinds of sherry, sweets and small tea sandwiches, from Circa 1886 was a charming touch. All staff we dealt with were extremely competent, and were able to recommend and obtain dinner reservations for us, as well as providing tourist information. The only tiny negative thing, which barely deserves to be mentioned, was the fact that we could hear very early risers going up and down stairs (our room door was close to the staircase). The House is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see while in Charleston. We just loved it.
